DJ Carnita, recently named San Francisco’s favorite DJ by Asterisk Magazine, is a resident DJ at Hard French, a monthly soul dance party in San Francisco that has garnered praise in the SF Bay Guardian, The New Gay, SF Weekly & the New York Times. He is also the co-host and producer of Daytime Realness, a monthly display of drag, dancing and debauchery that he co-hosts with Heklina & Stanley Frank. Carnita and his Hard French DJ partner, Brown Amy have been featured together in San Francisco at Homo A GoGo, Noise Pop, Nightlife at the California Academy of Sciences, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Fabulosa Fest, the Lexington, the Parkside, Public Works and have played guest DJ sets at award-winning San Francisco clubs like Trannyshack, Some Thing, Go Bang, Oldies Night and Bearracuda.
They have been also taken their show on the road toting their 45s as far away as Toronto and New York and Austin and were recently featured at Business Woman’s Special in Toronto and at The Hook Up! showcase at SXSW in Austin, TX, the Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle, Palm Springs Pride at the Ace Hotel and a Hole In My Soul in Portland. They have been heard on Bay Area Radio stations like Pirate Cat Radio and KALX Berkeley.
